The Tokyo International Japanese School (TIJS) was founded in 1983, and has gained a reputation over its 30-year development with over 12,000 students from over 100 countries having studied here. The academy is located conveniently in the heart of the commercial and cultural center of Shinjuku in an area well-known by all people traveling to Tokyo, and is convenient for studying and living as well. At the academy, the international students come from various countries, ages and walks of life, and include not only those who plan to enter universities and graduate schools, but also short-term researchers, company & state employees working and living with host families in Japan, as well as students who are married and currently living in Japan.

The school is located right in the commercial & cultural center of Shinjuku, Tokyo city, a 7-minute walk from Shinjuku station and a 2-minute walk from Shinjuku Sanchoume subway station and Shinjuku Gyoen Mae Station. The is nestled among many shopping & business centers and shops, very close to Shinjuku Gyoen, a wide national park where famous cherry blossoms can be witnessed.

General Course - Short Term

Course Description

The general course is offered to those with a visa other than student visa such as family visa, working holiday visa or short term visa. Interested students can technically enroll anytime but need to consult with the school first, then take a placement test and finally join a free trial lesson before enrolling in the course. Enrolment periods for beginners are January, April, July, August and October.

Course Description

EJU
The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students Preparatory class, gives students the opportunity to not only learn about 3 requested Japanese skills: reading, writing, listening; but also learn general subjects.
 
JLPT
The TIJS JLPT course prepares students for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in the levels N2 and N1.
