Yoshida Institute of Japanese Language is in Nishiwaseda, Shinjuku, Tokyo, near Waseda University. Long-term and short-term intensive classes develop speaking, listening, reading and writing through Japanese-language instruction, from beginner to advanced levels. Cultural activities, further-study guidance and working-holiday participation complement language learning; admission, residence permission and future employment are not guaranteed.

Checked October 15, 2026: the official long-term page says October 2026 is full and new January 2027 applications are not accepted; existing inquiries may continue consulting. April 2027 is listed with August 20-October 24 applications and February 18, 2027 results. Confirm remaining capacity immediately. The July 2027 table has an impossible February 29 deadline, and some October result text has an older year. Do not rely on these inconsistent dates; obtain written confirmation.

Application and Support

• Student-status applicants need 12 years of schooling or recognized equivalent education, academic records and evidence of financial support. Documents and Japanese-study proof vary by applicant; the FAQ mentions 150 study hours for some nationalities. Learn hiragana and katakana before entry, and confirm placement and the applicable requirements.
• The school assists with the COE process, followed by the applicant’s visa application; approval is not guaranteed. The document page describes billing for six months or a year after COE approval. Follow the actual invoice rather than treating visa length as course duration. English assistance is available from office staff, while classes use Japanese.
• Housing is not supplied by the school itself, but staff can help search for outside accommodation. Confirm vacancies, rent, deposits, utilities and contract conditions separately. JLPT/EJU preparation and education guidance depend on class level and current arrangements.

Payment and Refunds

Application fees are non-refundable. Withdrawal requires written notice, and refund rules depend on timing, visa outcome and fee type; admission and operating charges are generally non-refundable for long-term study. Read the linked policy and obtain the applicable written terms before paying. Transfer charges, accommodation and living costs are separate.

1-23-14 Nishiwaseda, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo 169-0051, Japan. Beside the Toden Arakawa Line’s Waseda terminus; the school gives about 12 minutes on foot from Tozai Line Waseda and 18 minutes from JR Takadanobaba. These are different Waseda stations.
