Tokyo School of Music and Dance
Tokyo
About
Tokyo School of Music and Dance (TSM) in Nishi-Kasai, Tokyo offers music, performance and entertainment-industry training. The 2027 international guide lists 36 programmes across four-year Super e-Entertainment, three-year Music Technology and the two-year Berklee study-abroad route. Classes are taught in Japanese; support in another language does not make the curriculum English-taught.
The five tabs below are this page’s subject groupings, not the school’s official department structure. They show 16 music/artist, 7 dance, 8 live/concert, 3 actor/voice and 2 digital routes. Earlier unconfirmed standalone programmes are not presented as current offers; no closure or successor relationship is assumed.
Learning and Support
- Practical industry projects, performances, production experience and professional facilities complement study. Curriculum and equipment access depend on programme and school rules.
- W Major opportunities allow students to explore learning outside their main specialism; confirm eligible classes and conditions. Career and debut support includes auditions, portfolios, interviews and individual guidance, not guaranteed employment or a debut.
- International-student and Jikei COM support covers study, applications and life in Japan. The school describes Japanese follow-up classes and consultation in Chinese, Korean and English. Confirm language availability, housing vacancies, costs and any support eligibility individually. Visa/COE and scholarships are not guaranteed.
2027 International Admission
- Foreign nationals who complete or expect to complete 12 years of formal education by March 2027, or an accepted equivalent qualification route. Under 18 or fewer than 12 years of schooling: consult Jikei COM; the guide’s high-school-equivalency route requires age 18 by March 31, 2027.
- Meet ONE Japanese route: JLPT N1/N2; EJU Japanese 200+ excluding writing; BJT 400+; or at least one year at a qualifying Japanese-language institution plus an entrance-test assessment of N2 or higher; or one year at a Japanese Article 1 school excluding kindergarten plus that N2-equivalent assessment. These are alternatives, not cumulative requirements.
- Selection consists of documents, a Japanese written examination and interview. Attend a school briefing before AO entry or application. Consult the school about the appropriate domestic/overseas route and required documents; no personal documents need to be submitted through this information page.
- The international guide lists general/recommendation applications from October 1, 2026 until capacity is reached. Its AO entry period was June 1–September 30. The school homepage separately announces an AO extension to October 31 and possible early closure of some majors. Confirm whether that extension applies to your international route and selected major; do not assume seats remain.
Payment and Withdrawal
The first payment is due within 10 days of the acceptance notice; the second is due March 12, 2027 under the guide. Textbooks/equipment are due by March 13, 2027, with the final course-specific notice in early March. Follow the actual invoice and overseas/COE instructions. Do not treat this as a guarantee of admission, visa or overseas progression.
The 2027 fee guide says tuition is refunded, except the admission fee, if the school’s withdrawal procedure is completed by March 31, 2027. From April 1, the listed admission, tuition, facilities, general practice and career-education fees are not refunded under the stated rule. Screening fees and submitted documents are not returned. Confirm the complete written conditions for textbooks, travel and any other charges before payment.
