About

Tokyo Hospitality Academy, formerly Tokyo Institute of Tourism (name changed in April 2024), is a vocational school in Ichigaya, Tokyo. This page introduces four existing fields with fourteen majors/courses listed in the 2027 international guide: Travel, Tourism Business, Hotel and Airline. Formal study is two years in Japanese, not an English-only programme. Diploma (senmonshi) is subject to completing an eligible programme and graduation requirements, not a university degree.

For food-creation, patisserie, independent barista/cafe options or other unlisted programmes, consult the school about current recruitment, duration and fees. No closure or transfer to a different department is assumed. Old Japanese-Chinese Interpretation and Business Japanese names are not treated as confirmed renamed successors to the current courses.

Learning and Student Support

Practical lessons, industry projects, field training and internships develop hospitality and communication skills. Class, career, Japanese-language and international-student staff support study, job applications, interviews and resumes. The official international page reports 92% employment among international graduates seeking jobs in March 2026; that cohort figure does not guarantee individual employment. Qualifications, internships, employer selection and residence status each have conditions.

Partner dormitories and student apartments are introduced. Meals, support and benefits differ by provider; confirm eligibility, availability, contract and separate costs. Housing and living costs are not included in the school fees below.

The school describes an AO/pre-school period before the two-year course, sometimes presented as a 2.5-year learning journey. This does not mean a 2.5-year formal course or automatic student visa. The 2027 guide provides free pre-school subject to entry and at least one open-campus/information-session visit, excluding concurrent-choice applicants; confirm dates and availability.

2027 International Admission

By March 2027: non-Japanese nationality, age 18 or over, and completion of at least 12 years of schooling; commitment to study through graduation. Meet at least one Japanese-study/language route: one year at a Japanese-language institution in Japan (long course, at least 760 hours); one year at a school under Article 1 of Japan’s School Education Act; or JLPT N2+, EJU Japanese 200+ excluding writing, or BJT 400+. Applicants attending a Japanese-language or vocational school in Japan need attendance of at least 80%.

All categories require document screening, an interview and a written examination in principle. N2/EJU200/BJT400 may permit a written-test exemption, but the school may still require it. Applications start September 1, 2026 and may close early when full. Overseas documents normally close around the end of November; contact the school for December onward. Confirm the actual round, documents and visa/residence procedures directly; admission and visa approval are not guaranteed.

The international web page still uses March 2026 for one language-study route and adds JPT 525/430-equivalent recommendation criteria, while the 2027 guide uses March 2027 and does not list JPT in its common qualification/category tables. Confirm these differences with the school; do not assume JPT alone guarantees eligibility. The general guide, international summary and department pages also differ in the options highlighted; confirm availability of your exact major/course.
