Tokyo College of Anime: Anime/Event/Illustration
Tokyo
About
Tokyo College of Anime (Tokyo Anime, Voice Acting & e-Sports vocational school) provides practical training for creative and entertainment careers in Japanese. This page presents six current three-year majors: the five anime, illustration, video and sound majors, plus voice-actor management and event operations. The website places the manager major in the voice/manager field, while the 2027 international guide includes it in Anime World. The current course list and 2027 guide confirm three years for all six.
Current Three-Year Majors
- Comic Illustration (3 years)
- Character Design & Content Business (3 years)
- Animation Production (3 years)
- Anime Sound & Sound Engineer (3 years)
- SNS & Online Video Creator (3 years)
- Voice Actor Management & Event Management (3 years)
These current majors replace the previous listing structure. The former four-year Digital Animation Production & Technology and standalone Anime Producer descriptions are not presented as current admissions options. This does not establish that they have been abolished or that a particular new major is their successor. Other fields at the school include voice acting, e-sports, VTuber and Xe-sports; this page does not describe every school major.
Learning and Student Support
Official major pages describe practical industry projects, professional facilities, portfolio work, career counselling and W-major study, which allows subjects outside the initial major subject to the school arrangements. International students can receive Japanese follow-up or advanced N1 support, assistance from senior international students in classes, career guidance and native-language progression consultation through the school and Jikei COM International Center. COM also advises on housing, living costs, applications, visas, fees and scholarships. Confirm available languages, places, costs and eligibility; work, admission, scholarships and visas are not guaranteed.
For auditions and special lectures, overseas short programs, online study and access to recorded lessons, confirm the current major-specific schedule, eligibility and charges. The old claims of weekly company visits and unlimited lesson archives are not confirmed as a current entitlement for every major.
International Admission: 2027
Foreign nationals who have completed or expect to complete 12 years of formal school education by March 2027, or an accepted equivalent route. The foreign equivalency-test route requires age 18 by March 31, 2027. Consult Jikei COM for fewer than 12 years of education or entry under age 18. Japanese requirements are one of: JLPT N1/N2; EJU Japanese 200 or above excluding writing; BJT 400 or above; or at least one year at a qualifying Japanese-language institution, together with an entrance-test assessment at JLPT N2 level or above. A qualifying year at a school under Article 1 of Japan School Education Act, excluding kindergarten, also requires the N2-equivalent entrance assessment. Consult for less than one year of language-school enrollment. The general COM website lists JPT, but the school-specific 2027 materials do not confirm it as an automatic alternative.
Selection includes a Japanese written test, interview and documents. Attend a school briefing before AO entry or application. The 2027 international guide lists AO entry June 1 to September 30, formal application from September 1, and international general/recommendation applications from October 1; applications close when capacity is reached. Overseas applicants should confirm the COM procedure and actual deadline. Screening is 30,000 yen, not refundable; a designated-school recommendation exemption requires confirmation. Required documents differ by residence/application route and include academic/Japanese evidence, financial sponsorship and identity/residence records. Admission and immigration decisions are separate; COE/visa support is not a guarantee.
