Kyoto JaLS offers short-term Japanese study and local cultural activities in central Kyoto. Standard group classes have a maximum of 8 students. Ask about acceptance, supervision and housing for minors.

Study and Admission

Standard study starts from 1 week, on Mondays, and finishes on Fridays. JaLS does not sponsor student visas. Confirm permission to stay for your nationality, study duration and any internship activities before booking.

Standard Course - Short Term

Practical Japanese for beginner to advanced learners, with 15 group lessons weekly. The sample weekday schedule is 9:30–12:20; actual arrangements must be confirmed.

Optional Standard + Private Lessons

The combined package has 21 lessons weekly, adding 6 private lessons. Package tuition is JPY 75,000 per week for the first 4 weeks, then JPY 67,500 for each additional week. This is the combined price, not an additional fee to add to Standard tuition.

Additional Charges

Registration JPY 22,000 and learning materials JPY 5,000 are listed separately for all courses. Optional activities, housing and living costs are extra. These are current online rates checked on October 13, 2026, not a confirmed 2027 fee schedule. Confirm tax treatment, applicable dates and the final invoice.

Standard Course with Internship - Short Term

Study plus an unpaid placement, for applicants aged 18 or over. Submit a current resume and cover letter; an interview may be required. The school describes 15 Japanese lessons and 15 internship hours weekly, while its FAQ mentions at least 4 internship hours each afternoon. Confirm the exact placement and schedule rather than treating either as a guarantee. Published tuition covers 6–12 weeks; other periods require a quotation and suitable permission to stay.

JLPT Course - Short Term

Preparation for JLPT N2 or N3, with a Japanese level test before arrival. The course introduction describes 4 weeks and year-round availability, but duration and start dates need confirmation. The sample afternoon schedule is 13:30–16:20, with substantial homework. Morning Standard classes and JLPT examination registration are separate.

Tuition: Quotation Required

Ask Kyoto JaLS for a dated quotation for the JLPT program, specifying your duration and whether morning classes are included. A fixed tuition total is not listed here because the school's published fee tables are inconsistent.
