Ichikawa Japanese Language Institute was established in 1989 with the aim to prepare “all students studying in Japan” so they can succeed in graduate school, university, and vocational school. The academy therefore has strict standards of instruction in its language learning, vocational training, and attendance policy, but couples this with taking care of the life of its international students to ensure success. In addition to this, the school also organizes “trade communication” lectures, and helps with job offers for students under the approval of the Japanese Ministry of Labor and Welfare in order to meet the growing desire to work in Japan. To fulfill the mission of successful education, a team of professional and enthusiastic teachers and enthusiastic staff support culture- and life-related issues. The school is located in Ichikawa, which is about 20 minutes to the center of Tokyo, with affordable and quality living conditions available to suit international students.

Variety of scholarships

- For the purpose of supporting international students, especially those with outstanding academic achievements, the school has created various scholarships, including Attendance Scholarship (awarded every semester and throughout the school year), scholarships for the best students, and excellence in the school’s eloquence contest.

Japanese Long-Term Course

Description

The Long-Term Course prepares students for academic progression and professional goals through a structured Japanese curriculum. Entries are in January, April, July and October, with study of one to two years and student-visa application support for eligible applicants. JLPT N1 is a learning goal; progress and admission results depend on each student.

Tax included. The ¥836,000 first-year amount includes screening ¥20,000, admission ¥60,000, tuition ¥720,000, insurance including a medical check ¥12,000 and facilities ¥24,000. The 15-month amount includes screening/admission, tuition ¥900,000, insurance ¥15,000 and facilities ¥30,000. Following-year amounts include tuition, insurance and facilities. Screening is already included in these totals and is paid with the application. Textbooks are charged separately after class placement; housing and living costs are separate. Confirm the final invoice and payment schedule. Students enrolled by January 2026 remain on their existing fee schedule.

Application documents

The school requests application and education records, a graduation certificate with English translation, sponsor funding and relationship documents, passport copy and photographs. Admission and visa eligibility are reviewed individually; ask for the current full document list.

Japanese Short-Term Course

Description

The Short-Term Course offers up to 90 days of Japanese study in the regular classes, with entry at the beginning or during a semester subject to placement and availability. The school can issue an invitation letter where required. Applicants must confirm the appropriate permitted stay for their nationality and study period.

Textbooks: ¥6,000–¥8,000 extra. The official page also contains a separate ¥20,000 screening-fee note; confirm with the school whether it applies in addition to the short-course table total before payment. Housing and living costs are separate.

Published weekday schedule: 8:50–12:30 (intermediate/advanced) or 13:20–17:00 (beginner). Confirm the actual class assignment, holidays and start date.

Students already resident in Japan

A separate resident plan is published at tuition ¥44,000 per month, admission ¥20,000 and textbooks ¥6,000–¥8,000 extra. The school lists 10% off tuition when three months are paid together. Confirm eligibility, the applicable schedule and final invoice.

Accommodation

The school publishes shared dormitory options in Ichikawa and Funabashi, normally on six-month contracts. Availability, rent, initial fees, utilities and contract conditions should be confirmed in a current accommodation quote.
