FAQs

DEOW Japan is a global support service for international students who want to study and live in Japan. Established in 2015, it offers free assistance with school applications, visas, accommodation, and Japanese language learning. DEOW partners with various educational institutions, including language schools, universities, and specialized programs. They also host online language exchange events and provide 24/7 emergency support. With offices in multiple countries, DEOW helps students from around the world achieve their study-abroad goals in Japan

What kind of programs do we offer?

We offer a variety of study programs in Japan, including:

Yes! We will help you prepare all the necessary documents and requirements for your visa application so you don’t have to worry about it. Our team will guide you through the process and make sure everything is correctly submitted.
DEOW Japan does not charge students for application support. Instead, partner schools provide a small commission only after a student successfully arrives in Japan and enrolls.
This covers the work we do, including:
    • Helping students choose a school that fits their goals

    • Explaining program details, requirements, and procedures

    • Pre-screening applicants and checking all documents

    • Submitting complete applications to the school for final review

    • Supporting students throughout the process until they arrive in Japan

This system also helps schools, as in Japan students can only apply to one language school at a time. Schools appreciate agencies like us because we reduce their workload by handling inquiries, explaining procedures, and presenting only prepared and qualified applicants.

Applying to Japanese language schools involves many steps, documents, and questions. Schools often receive inquiries from students who are still undecided, which takes a lot of time and resources.

By working with trusted agencies, schools can:

    • Rely on us to explain their programs accurately
    • Reduce the number of incomplete or unqualified applications
    • Receive students who are already prepared and understand the process

This makes the application process smoother for both schools and students.

Students save time and avoid confusion by having one point of contact for:

    • School comparisons

    • Application guidance

    • Visa preparation

    • Advice on studying and living in Japan

Instead of researching dozens of schools alone, DEOW helps students choose the best match quickly and confidently.

The requirement for the 150-hour certificate depends on multiple factors, including your nationality and Japan’s diplomatic relations with your country. Some students may be required to provide proof of at least 150 hours of Japanese study, while others may not. Neither DEOW Japan nor the schools have control over this requirement, as it is determined by Japanese immigration policies. If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, we recommend checking with us so we can help you understand your specific situation.

Not always.
For some nationalities and certain schools, applicants must provide an official Japanese language test score, as a 150-hour study certificate alone may not be accepted.

The Immigration Bureau of Japan currently recognizes the following Japanese language proficiency tests:

Unfortunately, we only assist with student visas for long-term studies and tourist visas for short-term studies. If you are looking to apply for a working visa, we recommend checking with the Japanese Immigration Bureau or consulting an expert in visa sponsorship.

The main difference between long-term and short-term studies is the length of the program and the type of visa required:

    • Short-term studies usually last up to 90 days and can often be done on a tourist visa (depending on nationality). These programs are ideal for those looking to experience Japan while improving their Japanese.
    • Long-term studies typically last 6 months to 2 years and require a student visa. These programs are for students who want to study Japanese intensively and potentially continue to higher education or work in Japan.

If you’re unsure which option is best for you, we can help you explore the possibilities!

Yes. We support students with accommodation as well.
We work with many trusted sharehouse and apartment partners and can introduce options that match your budget and preferences.
You are also free to find accommodation on your own and ask for our advice if needed.

For most sharehouses and student apartments, searching can begin around 3 months before your arrival in Japan.
Some options may open earlier or later depending on availability, but 3 months is generally the ideal time to start.
