About the school
Super Multi-Artist | Artist & Producer | DJ Performer | Game & Anime Musician
At the Tokyo School of Music and Dance (TSM), students are developed into multi-faceted musicians who are versatile and competitive in the industry, with training that not cultivates instrumental and vocal talents as a musician and vocalist, but also the skills required to promote themselves, produce their own music on their own, and transmit their music to the world through the modern social marketing channels that are currently available to musicians today, including many Japanese platforms. Having all of these abilities is considered the new standard of artists today, and also has implications about an exciting future.
The Music Artist Program has 5 majors to choose from:
- Super Multi-Artist (4 years) – This newly-created major develops artists who are not confined to any particular genre and are versatile and skilled musicians with developed singing abilities, performance techniques, performance and dance abilities, as well as self-production and self-distribution know-how.
- Artist & Producer (3 years) – In this major, students receive training as both a vocalist and musician, as well as learn music production, such as composition and mastering, and promotion.
- DJ Performer & Track Maker (3 years) – A great DJ is boundless and able to mix music across genres. To achieve this, students in this major are trained to make full use of all digital equipment available and develop their skills in producing original tracks, including EDM.
- E-Pro Musician (3 years) – This major is for the performer who aspires to be the talent or idol of tomorrow, with training in self-presentation, planning, self-producing, and video distribution.
- Game & Anime Musician (3 years) – Be trained in music production, image strategies, and live performance techniques so that you can enter into the world of games and animation as a musician and idol.

The instructors at TSM are highly qualified professionals with extensive experience and who are active members in well-established bands or well-known artists.
From them you will learn a wide variety of genres, technologies, techniques, performance styles, and music production techniques.
In addition, you will learn self-production, and receive special lessons by producers of record labels, web designers, and guest musicians.
Many of the students who have taken a 3-year program at TSM have gone on to join major musical groups and bands, or have created their own with their fellow peers, and have gone on to debut albums on a major scale.
In addition to the skills acquired throughout your studies and your personal talents and ambitions, graduating from TSM gains the attention of the industry as it has a long-established positive reputation.
“W Major Curriculum” is a school policy which gives students the ability to choose classes outside of the program that they decided at the time of admission as well as change majors in order that students can explore different areas and ultimately become more well-rounded artists & performers in the future.
The school believes firmly in the development of practical skills that are actually needed in the real world.
Within the program, students receive interview and audition training sessions, portfolio building workshops, and real-life practicums.
Moreover, outside of the program, students have access to admin support for any concerns about their program or classes, as well as career counselling, where qualified staff guide you to find your way in the world as an artist.
Through the vast network that the TSM has developed and maintains in the industry, students are able to engage in collaborative projects that have real impact.
