Kyushu National University (also known as Kyudai)is a public university with a history of over 100 years in Fukuoka Prefecture. The total number of students currently attending the school is 19,308, including 2,097 foreign students, making it a major an international university. The school aims for an Active Learning autonomous education approach; the goal of education being that students can successfully operate not only in Japan but also in Asian countries and around the world. In addition to academics, the school also focuses on sports club activities such as the annual Toriningen (Birdman Rally) contest at Lake Biwako, where many of its students hold records.
Support system to help students feel live comfortably
The Kyushu University Support Center connects the international students’ dormitories, support staff in the support center, and instructors, to create a system of support & information related to life abroad for international students, including studying, local transportation, and daily life needs.
Global 30 Project
Established by the Japanese Ministry of Education and Training to promote the internationalization of universities, students attending universities in Japan are required to study English in order to graduate. Kyushu University is a part of this project and has been developing itself to become evermore internationally-minded, and has opened four programs in line with this project in the fields of natural science as well as a program in the agricultural department.
The school has developed a variety of programs, such as Southeast Asian Studies, Asian Studies, as well as classes on Japanese society, politics and culture (Field Study) in addition to its Japanese Language program.
