Kyoto National University (known as Kyodai for short) is a national university founded in 1897 and is known as one of Japan’s leading prestigious universities on par with Tokyo University. The school has 3 campuses in the ancient city of Kyoto and with the number of international students at about 1,800, the university has gained the reputation as an international university. In its multinational environment, the school provides many international programs, including English classes as well as exchange programs between international students and universities abroad, which is one of the defining school differences.
