Yamanashi

Yamanashi is a prefecture of Japan located in the Chubu region. It is in proximity of 5 prefectures including Tokyo to the east. Yamanashi is home to the famous highest mountain in Japan, Mt.Fuji, located on the border with Shizuoka prefecture. Yamanashi is popular among hikers hoping to see a significant view of Mt.Fuji. Summer hiking season in July and August attracts thousands of overnight hikers. Thanks to the area’s volcanic activity, natural hot springs are also found in abundance. Even if you are not a big fan of hiking, you will enjoy Yamanashi for its rich nature while having a great connection to Tokyo.
